Successful Hip Replacement Surgery at NSH Guwahati

Aftab Alam got his left hip infected by tuberculosis during his childhood, which was treated but had a permanent damage to the ball and socket joint of the left hip. He is 25 years of age now and is running a grocery shop. The damage in the joint made him experience continuous pain in his left hip, making it difficult for him to do daily activities. He started to walk on one leg, and the condition only worsened with time. He consulted many centres in Shillong and was diagnosed with avascular necrosis of femoral head with secondary osteoarthitis. This is a condition where blood supply to the ball of the hip joint decreases and due to this it gradually degenerates.
